Biography Dr. Levtchenko is a Pediatric Nephrologist and a Full Professor of Medicine at the University Hospitals Leuven and KU Leuven, Belgium. Dr. Levtchenko graduated from Pirogov Medical University, Moscow, Russia. She did her Pediatric Residency at the University Hospital Brussels, and her Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship at Radboud University Medical Centre (UMC), The Netherlands. She completed her PhD training in Radboud UMC and returned to Belgium to lead the division of Pediatric Nephrology in Leuven. She is a group leader of the Laboratory of Pediatric Nephrology at KU Leuven having research interest in unravelling pathogenesis and find novel therapies for inherited kidney disorders, in particular cystinosis. Dr. Levtchenko was a president of European Society for Pediatric Nephrology (ESPN) 2015-2019, and is currently chairing ESPN Working Group of Inherited Kidney Disorders.  Rukshana Shroff, MD – Committee Member Biography Rukshana Shroff is a Professor of Paediatric Nephrology at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London, and University College London, UK. Her research focuses on bone and cardiovascular disease in childhood CKD and improving outcomes for children on dialysis. She holds a prestigious senior fellowship from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). Professor Shroff is co-editor for the 8th edition of Pediatric Nephrology, the definitive textbook in our field. She was elected to serve as a member of the KDIGO Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) Executive Committee and works on international guideline committees for KDIGO, NICE and ESPN. She serves on the editorial board of several journals and has published over 250 original articles, reviews and editorials. She has contributed to the scientific committee of several international meetings. Professor Shroff is the co-chair of the ISN Sister Renal Centre program.
Biography Prof. Dr. Jun Oh, is the Professor of Pediatrics and Pediatric Transplantation, Vice-Chairman of Pediatric in the Department of Ped. Nephrology Center for Obstetrics and pediatrics Medical Center Hamburg/Eppendorf, Germany. Dr. Oh also serves as the Director, Department of Pediatric Nephrology, Hepatology and Transplantation, as Council Member and Treasurer of the “European Society of Pediatric Nephrology, he is on the Editorial Boards of “Childhood Kidney Disease” and “Pediatric Nephrology” and serves as the Director of the Department of Pediatric Nephrology and Renal Transplantation and Director of the KfH Kidney Center for Children and Adolescents Hamburg. He is a member of the Executive Board, Pediatric Nephrology Working Group (GPN). In addition, Dr. Oh is an Adjunct professor and Deputy Senior Staff Physician for the Department of Pediatric Nephrology at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Hamburg. | PNRC Members Tarak Srivastava, MD, FASN – Co-Chair Biography Dr. Srivastava is a Pediatric Nephrologist at the Children's Mercy Hospital, University of Missouri at Kansas City. Dr. Srivastava graduated from Seth GS Medical College, Mumbai, India. He did his Pediatric Residency from Seth GS Medical College & KEM Hospital, Mumbai, India, and his Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Sydney, Australia. He completed his second Pediatric Residency and Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship at Children Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, USA. His laboratory research interest is in podocyte biology in health and disease, and in progression of chronic kidney disease. His clinical research interest is in Nephrotic Syndrome and in Metabolic Bone Disease. He is the Director of the Nephrology Research Laboratory and Director of the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Program at Children Mercy Hospital. 
William E. Smoyer, MD – Committee Member Biography Vice President for Clinical and Translational Research at the Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and as Director of the Center for Clinical and Translational Research. He is also a Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University and the Co-PI for the OSU Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences, representing the Child Health component. He has focused his career on basic, clinical, and translational research to improve our understanding of the molecular regulation of podocyte injury during nephrotic syndrome, and to develop more targeted and effective novel treatments for childhood nephrotic syndrome. Dr. Smoyer holds numerous grants from the National Institutes of Health, funding both basic research and clinical trials related to glomerular disease, nephrotic syndrome, and podocyte biology. He is a co-founder of the Midwest Pediatric Nephrology Consortium (MWPNC). He has authored more than 140 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. He is a member of the Society for Pediatric Research, American Pediatric Society, American Society of Pediatric Nephrology, International Pediatric Nephrology Association, as well as a fellow of the American Society of Nephrology, among other numerous professional associations. He also currently serves as Co-Chair of the Coordinating Committee of the Institute for Advanced Clinical Trials in Children (I-ACT), as well as on the Boards of NephCure Kidney International, the Pediatric Nephrology Research Consortium, and the CTSA External Advisory Boards of the University of Southern California (USC/CHLA) and the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Smoyer has been listed among the Best Doctors in America continuously since 2005.
Biography Dr. Keia Sanderson is an Pediatric Nephrologist and Pediatric Dialysis Director at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC. She is originally from Charlotte, NC. She graduated from the University of Missouri School of Medicine, the University of South Carolina for her pediatric residency training, and Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri for her pediatric nephrology fellowship. She most recently completed her Masters of Science in Clinical Research at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Public Health. In her role as an NIH funded clinician researcher, she is interested in the Developmental Origins of Health and Development work identifying early life exposures which impact pediatric kidney health. She is currently focused on identifying risk factors for pediatric kidney disease after preterm birth to improve earlier recognition of kidney disease in preterm born children. She is also focused on the use AI methods to support clinical decision support for pediatric kidney disease. |
